UP breeds naked runners and govt destabilizers?

Mukha yatang totoo iyong sabi ni Secretary Gonzalez: UP breeds govt destabilizers.

Hey, man, I'm from UP. I love that school. There's no truth in that assertion. UP is just representative of the Filipino population. There is always that 1%(?) who refuse to abide by the law. The reason UP "government destabilizers" stand out is that they "highly intelligent lawbreakers." And UP grads just stand out as community leaders, whether in the government or against the government.

Gonzalez's claim is unfair and untrue. eyepopping.gif For every Joma UP produces, you have hundreds of UP grads who are law abiding citizens and community leaders.

Taga-UP din ako. Hindi ko ikinahihiya na ang mga estudyante at graduates ng UP ay tinatawag na "government destabilizers." Kami naman talaga ang namumuno sa ikabubuti ng Pilipinas. Rebolusyon ang kailangan ng bayan!

Wow!! Kasama na pala ang girls ngayon. Fantastic!

For those of you who don't know, the "Oblation Run" started in 1977 as a gimmick by the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity to promote the screening of a movie about oppressed plantation workers called Naked Hero. The film had been banned by the late dictator, Ferdinand Marcos.

Since then, the fraternity has used the stunt to make political statements, from raising AIDS awareness to demanding the resignation of the Philippine president, said Armand Padilla, a fraternity alumnus and organiser of the centennial run.

He said the university's centennial committee requested the fraternity stage the annual nude demonstration as one of the activities to mark the school's 100th foundation year.

The fraternity mustered 100 members and alumni – the largest number of naked runners ever – for the event, he said.

The naked runners, who wore golden masks and wrapped T-shirts around their heads to hide their identities, offered roses to scores of giggling female students who took their pictures as they jogged about one kilometre from the student centre to the Oblation statue in front of the university's administration building.

Oh, for those who didn't read the original write-up with the infamous school of naked runners and gov't destabilizers quip, I posted a copy of it. Click  here
