While I do not agree with all her politices, I'm pro-PGMA. She is the president of the Philippines. And you cannot be pro-Philippines unless you are pro-PGMA. The elections were over years ago. There were a lot more questions in the Bush vs. Gore electoral race before, but Americans of the losing party and their supporters conceded their loss in less than a month after the elections. It's called patriotism.
Of course, I support GMA. There can only be one president of the Philippines at a time. Elections were over 3 years ago and GMA is our president.
I think the opposition and their supporters should all behave like Recto and Defensor, like civilized gentlemen, accept their defeat with grace and wait for the next election. It is these people that give government and politics a bad name in the country. They keep trying to destroy the economy and people's trust in the government to further their personal ambitions. They hinder progress and keep the economy hostage.
I hope our generation will be different from theirs.
I like her. While she is far from perfect, I think she has been a damn good president considering the chaotic state of Philippine politics. The economy has greatly improved and some order in the government has been achieved due to her. She could do a lot better without all these crazy groups all ganging up on her, trying to grab power and to destroy our democratic institutions, for their own personal ambitions.
"While the president is sensitive to public opinion, she took an oath that requires her to do what is right and not what is popular," Cerge Remonde, her spokesman said, re the E-VAT. But she should be consistent and stick up for population control. It has a much bigger consequence on the economy than E-VAT.
