Cheaper medicines bill

Since this law is much needed and wanted by Filipinos, but is forever stalled by the very rich and big pharmaceutical  lobby, I thought of opening a thread on the topic. So people can monitor it.

At the moment, the bill, sponsored by Senator Roxas has already passed the senate. However, Congressman Pablo Garcia of Cebu is stalling same in the House of Representatives.

Ang Mercury Drug siyang pinaka-malaki na drug company sa Pinas. Ang mga Aboitiz at ang kanilang mga kamag-anak siyang may-ari nito. Mga Cebuano ang mga malaking tao sa Mercury Drug. Si Congressman Garcia ay taga-Cebu din. Eto kaya ang rason na hinahadlang niya ang pagpasa ng cheaper medicines bill?

I think Cebu Rep. Pablo Garcia has close connections the owners of businesses who stand to gain from keeping the prices of medicines high. That's the real reason why he is delaying it's passage. That's why Rep. Teodoro Locsin, who is also from the Visayas like Garcia, questioned his motives.

It's a good thing this guy did not succeed in unseating JDV as speaker. At least si JDV hindi ganito ka garapal.
