How do you feel about the senatoriables? The Presidentiables?

Ralph Recto is one of the few good men in the senate with balls and integrity. A grandson befitting Claro M. Recto, a great Filipino statesman. And with his background in economics and finance, he would make a fantastic president one day. Just make sure you have Vi by your side, just in case. We don't want you losing, again. That's what girlfriends and wives are for kissing.gif

This is the article Zubiri seeks news blackout on Pimentel poll protest

Just for the people who don't get it. There is no real basis for Pimentel's claim. He's never going to win. Its not even believable: he was clobbered in his own turf and the Zubiris are very popular in Mindanao, unlike the Pimentels. The reason he is doing this is the same reason his father did same before (the "dagdag-bawas" thing against Enrile) and the reason why Loren did same against Noli (despite the fact that she had no genuine proof for such allegation), the reason why you hear all that anti-GMA rhetoric from Escudero and the lies of Allan Cayetano. It's the unprincipled trapos' and wannabe trapos' idea of a campaign strategy. It's what they say when they have nothing better to push their campaign forward.

A media gag order re such spurious electoral claims, free media mileage, should be the order of the day. Maybe a law should be passed addressing same.

You may just be right there. Today, PET dismissed the case of Loren Legarda against Noli for lack of legal and factual basis. Meanwhile, it got her free media mileage at the expense of PGMA and Nolis reputation. Campaigns of this nature should not be allowed by the courts. Heres the article.

I'd consider Bayani Fernando. I like a doer, a man who gets things done. A man with the will to do what is right for the country and will not pander to populist sentiments for mere political expediency. In other words, a true leader. I prefer someone with strong business and economic skills like Recto, Roxas and Villar. But, if the character is zilch, I may just choose between Bayani and Recto, should the latter join the race.

But its too early. E.g., I'm actually starting to change my mind re Roxas. Parang ginagaya kasi niya ang mga Escudero and Allan Cayetano neanderthal kulang sa pansin tactics. Maingay at pa-pogi lang, unprincipled with no substance and ungentlemanly. Puede pasar sa kongreso, but presidents are different. You want someone more dignified.

This post is way too late. But Mike Defensor lost in his senatorial bid. And I like the guy. Very smart, principled and a real gentleman.  And so I wanted to say something nice. We need more men in govt like him.

I like Angara and Villar. Very smart and results-oriented.

Can't stand Escudero, Legarda, the two Cayetanos.... Loud mouths were useful in the fight against martial law, but not anymore now. A Pimentel and a Miriam in the Senate are sufficient. We don't need any more attorneys and actors there.

What we do need are men with strong business management skills, experts in economics, scientists and the like-- men who have special technical skills other than paper pushing, their big mouths and pretty faces. Men who understand the intricacies of the problems facing the country. THAT is what we need.

I like Senators Joker Arroyo, Miriam Santiago, Enrile, Lacson and Roxas.
