Nah, not if you keep the rest of the room under control. I was checking accent wall wallpaper and found some designs where the gold effect is pretty subtle. That's more my thing anyway. I put a darker pattern behind the sofa and used a couple of brass details around the room. Dude, it looks expensive without feeling like some crazy luxury showroom. I'd definitely avoid adding gold to every single piece of furniture though.
